Creative Custom Solutions for your underutilized space!

Do you have a space in your home that was created for one reason, but no longer useful? Do you wish you had a larger closet or β€˜a’ closet in your old home? Could a nook be better used as shelving? Do you need a desk or another upgrade to your home office? Do you just need better storage? We all have that area in our home that we wish was a bit different or easier to use in our everyday lives. Here are a few examples when we helped to develop and install creative solutions to help our client’s spaces work better for them.

Closets – The client had two (2) separate closets with space between them that was originally intended to fit a bed. The client approached us wanting to join the two (2) smaller closets together to form one (1) larger closet, using the dead space for the bed as new closet space. The two (2) double doors and lights inside the closet are features that the previous closets did not have. The owners finished the space off with an Elfa/Container Store organizing system that was installed by RMC Builders. The new closet more than doubled the existing closet-space and blends in well as if it had always been there.

Entryway Closet/bookshelf – The client wanted to do something creative with their entryway closet. They initially wanted to install a hidden door behind a bookshelf, but the space was not big enough to accommodate that type of door. We helped them figure out that we could install a custom rolling bookcase, that can roll in and out of place when needed and could be secured in place by a few pins. The bookshelf and cabinet below add day-to-day functionality, while the closet can still be used for storage. The new door/bookshelf gives an updated yet classic look and added functionality to the entryway of their home.

Jewelry/Storage box/bench seat between bedroom windows – There was an existing bench seat in this location, with one storage cavity below the hinged seat. The client wanted a creative place to store their jewelry. The flat map drawer style fit perfectly in this area. The new jewelry box kept the same footprint as the previous storage bench and as intended the benchtop remained.

Desk & Window Bench Seat – The client wanted to turn an ordinary bedroom into a bedroom/office space with a large desk & cabinetry and new window bench with storage below. With more people working from home, we are finding increased demand for a proper workspace in their homes. With the help of a designer, we were able to bring the client’s ideas for transformation to life. The desk consists of premade cabinetry with a stained butcherblock desktop. The bay window bench has a few premade cabinets below the bench for storage and the rest is custom. These two (2) updates completely changed the look and usefulness of the room. Now it can be an office by day, a cozy place to read on the weekend and still a restful place at night.

Before, During & After

Under Stair Storage – This is a solution for that often hard to reach area under the stairs. We helped the clients to create new shelving and a rolling tray on the bottom that slides in and out from under the stairs. The rolling tray was perfect for their kids’ toys, where they can slide out to be easily accessible and yet are neatly tucked away and out of sight when playtime is over.
